Thoughts about translating:

I enjoy translating as it opens your mind to new ideas, understandings, and outlooks on others.  When translating, you are not just on the outside looking in, you are more in-depth... actually inside looking in (if that makes sense).  You are looking at the ideas of the originator of the document. Ideas from his or her perspective. When translating those ideas, it allows you analyze each word and phrase it to bring the ideas to a target audience in a form they understand and feel with the same emotions and target emphasis the originator was feeling when it was written in the source language.  My personal belief is when you translate, you are not translating words, you are translating the originator's beliefs and feelings.  When you take this into perspective, your translation becomes so much more... you bring it to life!
